A Data Officer manages an organization’s data lifecycle, including collection, entry, cleaning, analysis, and reporting to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance. They maintain databases, support datadriven decision-making, and ensure data security protocols. Key skills include proficiency in database management systems, spreadsheets (Excel), and statistical software like R or Python.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Management & Entry: Responsible for daily data entry, verification, and maintaining accurate, updated databases or Management Information Systems (MIS)
- Data Quality Assurance: Conduct regular data quality audits (DQAs), identify discrepancies, and ensure data integrity
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly data reports and dashboards for performance tracking
- Data Security & Compliance: Adhere to strict data confidentiality and protection policies
- Tools Maintenance: Manage data collection tools and ensure the use of updated reporting systems
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Typically a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Management, or related field
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SQL, and statistical software (e.g., R, STATA, Python)
- Experience: Proven experience in data management, analysis, and reporting
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze large datasets to produce meaningful insights
